Looking to experience the historic and cultural city of Florence from a new perspective, with a drop of fine wine thrown in for good measure and a beautiful countryside to be enjoyed at slow pace?
This 2 or 3 day journey along the rivers Sieve and Arno will bring you crossing historic villages, the Mugello countryside and the Chianti wine region. Ending in the center of Florence, you will be enjoying in this unique journey, local food and wine, nature, art and history.
No previous experience is required, you just need to be in good health with a sense of fun.
The countryside surrounding Florence inspired Italian painters like Giotto and it is easy to see why. The clean clear waters of the river Sieve are lined on either side by dense woods broken by shingle beaches. The Sieve’s rapids attract water sports enthusiasts from far and wide. They are never too severe but are certainly a challenge when approached on a stand-up paddleboard.
The Sieve and Arno passes through the Chianti region, well known for both its red and white wines. Along the way, there will be the chance to sample some of the local tipple as well as other fine local produce.
