Known as the Lucchesia area and lined with villas, wineries and scene-stealing landscapes, this region is rooted in its ties to the Serchio river, which also flows through the Garfagnana. Home to a world-renowned comics festival and an unmatched summer concert scene, Lucca has both contemporary clout and old-world charm, and is well worth an extended visit.
The tour starts at Foro Boario, through the River Park to paddle from Lucca to Ponte San Pietro slowly crossing the villages along the river. Slightly pushed by the river, with some break for swimming and eat some snack, watching fishes and birds, the 3 hours paddling downstream are amazing and easy for anyone, beginners or expert.
